Many of our readers (6 of you) have been asking us for a new post on the Jilong KL-300.

We made a list of your questions.
Q: What is the splice time?
A: Jilong manufacturer says they get 9 sec splice time. We do our own testing in our tech dept and we get 10-13 secs on average.
Q: Why should I buy a it (KL-300) over a Fujikura 50s?
A: First off, the Fujikura 50s is discountinued now. How about the price? The price of the Jilong is $9,845.00 with a 2 year manufacturers warranty, when the F-50s is $12,445. The Jilong KL-300 splice memory is almost double what the F-50s is. Battery life of the kl-300 last for 60-150 splice cycles, while the F-50s only last for 60 splice cycles. If weight is of concern to you, the KL-300 is also a little lighter. The current offer is a 2 year warranty with the Jilong KL-300.
Q: How do I know it's worth the money?
A: SurplusEQ has been around since 2000 and is known for it's great deals and integrity. We are planning on being in business for many years to come and would not sell a product that is going to ruin our reputation as a company. Since we started selling KL-300 fusion splicers and we have only had 1 returned due to malfuction. Out of the amount of fusion splicers we sell, having one returned for that reason is expected.
Q: Which fusion splicer would your techs use in the field?
A: Again, we like the KL-300 best (not just because we offer it) because you don't have to swap out hardware to switch between power mode and battery mode. You just unplug and go. Being in the field, the KL-300 is small and lightweight so carrying it around while walking is easier. The built-in battery and fact that you can buy a larger size battery puts it at the top of our list.
